Gail L. Watkins age 81, of 157 Harmon Road Walnut, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at his home. He was born on July 31, 1925 in Walnut, Illinois the son of Lester and Clara E. Gramer. He was united in marriage to Blanche Johnson on November 23, 1950 in Walnut, Illinois.

He was a member of the Walnut First Christian Church and the Lee County Farm Bureau. He farmed in the Walnut area during his lifetime. He liked to read and watch the Cubs.

He is survived by his wife Blanche Watkins of Walnut, Illinois; two daughters Lynda Blaine of Sublette, Illinois, Jeanna (Robert) Ohda of Normandy, Illinois, two sons, William (Roberta) Watkins of Walnut, Illinois, David (Jul-Adams) Watkins of Walnut, Illinois; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother Donald (Marjorie) Watkins of Milledgeville, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Betsy, and one brother Charles.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the Rev. Brian Moore, Pastor of the First Christian Church of Walnut officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN HIS MEMORY TO THE FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF WALNUT AND THE WALNUT FIRE DEPARTMENT.
