Edna Knight

Town of Hill resident Edna E. Knight died at her home on Thursday, August 12, 1999, at the age of 83.

Born January 26, 1916, in Tampico, Illinois, to Ralph and Hilda (Olson) Pratt, she was a schoolmate of Ronald Reagan in Tampico. She married Melvin Knight in August 1932 in Tampico, moving to Wisconsin in 1944 from Dixon, Illinois. The couple farmed in both states and she drove bus for the former Leavitt Creek School and worked for the former Gem Products, a shoe factory in Rib Lake. An Avon lady, she loved to travel, spending many winters in Texas and the South. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafts and fishing in her free time. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Ogema and of the Hill Homemakers Club.

The funeral service was held Monday, August 16, at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Tim Schueler officiating. Interment was at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Westboro. Pallbearers were grandsons Joseph, John, Scott and Eric Wojcik, Rocky and Wade Knight and Keith Willms.

Mrs. Knight is survived by her husband, Melvin; three sons: Everett (Mary Jo), Arlie (Carol) and William, all of Ogema; a daughter, Sharon (Mrs. Joe) Wojcik, Westboro; three sisters, Alice Blackert, Princeton, Illinois; Emma Mae Beard, Hemet, California; and Martha Plautz, Zebulon, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Alice Pratt, Profitstown, Illinois; and by 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Everett, and by a granddaughter, Laura Knight.

The Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home, Rib Lake and Medford, served the family.
