PIONEER WOMAN ENTERS INTO REST

RELEASE COMES TO MRS. ADELLA STEWART ON DECEMBER 15TH AFTER LONG PERIOD OF INVALIDISM

BURIAL MADE HERE THURSDAY

Death Occurred at Independence and Body Brought to Old Hume for Burial. All of Her Five Children Present for Funeral.

1861 - 1924

A long period of invalidism came to a close with the death of Independence on Dec. 15, 1924, of Mrs. Adella Stewart one of the pioneer women of this county. For several years Mrs. Stewart had been in declining health and her death, therefore, was not wholly unexpected. The body was brought to her old home here, services being held on Thursday last in charge of the Revs. C. G. WRIGHT and  A. E. HURSH, and burial was made in Oakland cemetery. All of Mrs. STEWART'S five children were present to see a good mother laid away.

Born in This County in 1861

Mary Adella, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred DUREY, was born in this county July 15, 1861, and was therefore 68 years of age. She grew to young womanhood here, was married to R. F. STEWART, whose death occurred about twelve years ago, and had passed almost all of her active busy life in this city. The following children survive her: Mrs. P. C. JOHNSON of Thomas, Ill.; C. C. STEWART of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Alvin P. ROE of Finley, N. D.; Roy R. STEWART of Independence; and Rubie A. STEWART of Manchester. Mrs. STEWART also leaves two brothers and two sisters; Mrs. Jennie STEWART of Seattle, Wash.; Will A. DUREY of Battle Creek, Mich.; Mrs. Maude ZWISLER of Waterloo, and Bert H. DUREY of this city.

A Life of Sacrifice

Mrs. STEWART's life was one of self sacrifice, unremitting industry and complete devotion in her family. Her cup of sorrow, anxiety and deprivation seemed at times to be filled to over-flowing, but with brave heart she ministered to those she loved, reared and educated her children and gave them the love  that only a mother knows. That love was fully returned and requited by them and her memory, like a guardian angel, will ever be with them. Amid happier scenes she awaits the coming of those for whom she toiled and sacrificed so faithfully, having richly earned the rest and ease so long denied her here.
