OBITUARY

 

George HANSEN son of James and Bertha HANSEN was born in Saskjobing, Denmark, June 3, 1873, and died at his home in Fairfield Township, Saturday evening, April 6, 1929 at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 3 days. In his youth, he was confirmed in the Lutheran church to which faith he remained a steadfast member until his death.

 

In 1891, when but a young man, he immigrated to America and located at Sheffield, Ill,, where he followed the occupation of blacksmith, a trade in which he served his apprenticeship when but 14 years of age. Having a desire for agricultural pursuits, he later moved to Fairfield Township where he engaged in farming.

 

On Dec. 6, 1893, he was united in marriage to Hannah HANSEN. To this union was born children, Hannah and George dieing in infancy and one son, James, passed away in 1914 at the age of fourteen years. The surviving children are Fred R.; Anna C.; George H.; Charles M.; William J.; Wilbur T.; Leonard W.; Lester W.; and Irene C.

 

He leaves to mourn his death besides his wife and surviving children, one sister, Mrs. Martin JENSEN of Edwardsville, Ill., and two brothers, James P. HANSEN of Racine, Wisconsin, and Hans P. HANSEN of Denmark and one half-brother, Christian PETERSON of Denmark, also a number of other relatives and a host of friends. His father and mother, two sisters and one brother having preceded him to the great beyond.
