Bert Scott, 79, Dies Sunday Afternoon
 
Bert Scott, 79, a lifelong resident of Montmorency and Hume townships, died in the Sterling Rest home, Sunday at 4:30 p.m.  The body was taken to the Wheelock funeral home in Rock Falls, where it rests.
 
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m., Rev. Harry E. Shiffer, pastor of the Rock Falls Christian church, officiating.  The committal will be in Riverside cemetery, Sterling.
 
Mr. Scott was the last member of the Scott clan, whose ancestors came to the United States from the British Isles.  He was born September 23, 1868, in Montmorency township, son of Edwin and Mary Scott.  He was reared and schooled in Montmorency.  On Thanksgiving day in 1891 he wedded Mary M. Lane in Rock Falls.  Four children were born to this union, two preceding him in death:  Susie and Ina B. Scott.  Surviving children are his son, A. L. Scott, and daughter Mrs. O. R. Chatterson, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.  There also survive four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.  Mr. Scott lived on a farm all his active life, the last 25 years or more on the L. E. Brookfield farm in Hume township.  His great-grandfather was Barney Scott, who came to America from the British Isles.

Albert Scott Rites Tuesday Afternoon
 
Funeral services for the late Albert Scott were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Wheelock funeral home, Rev. Harry E. Shiffer, pastor of the Rock Falls Christian church, officiating.  Mrs. Shiffer and Mrs. L. O. Skaggs sang "The Old Rugged Cross."   Mrs. Skaggs was the accompanist.
 
Casket attendants were William Bollman, Harry Butler, Ray Scott, Ira Scott, Robert Herbon and Stanley Herbon.  The flowers were in the charge of Mrs. Robert Buzzard and Ethel Frye.  The committal was in Riverside cemetery, Sterling.
