LEONARD H. HOPKINS
Leonard H. Hopkins, 75, of Bentley, Passes Monday; rites Wednesday at Leon
Leonard H. Hopkins, 75, former resident of the Prophetstown vicinity, died Monday morning at his home in Bentley, Ill. He had been in failing health for the past five years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Leon church, south of Prophetstown. Elder C. E. Webb of Bentley will officiate. Interment will be in the Leon cemetery.
Mr. Hopkins was born Feb. 9, 1869, in the Leon community, son of John and Mary Hopkins. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist church.
He was married to Annie Markle, who died in 1920. He then married Mrs. Alma Whitty of Roodhouse in 1929.
He resided in the Leon and Yorktown vicinity until 20 years ago. Besides his widow he leaves two sons, Lynn of Sublette and Vern of Prophetstown; three daughteers, Mrs. Earl Poland, Hamilton, Ill.; Mrs. Griffith Gardner, Plymouth, Ill..; Mrs. Orvil Prior, Carthage, Ill; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Rites at Leon Church For Leonard Hopkins
Funeral services for Leonard Hopkins, 75, who died Monday at his home in Bentley, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Leon church south of Prophetstown. Elder C. E. Webb of Bentley officiated. Lloyd Wildman sang two hymns, "Rock of Ages," and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me," accompanied by his mother, Mrs. S. G. Wildman. Interment was in the Leon cemetery. The pallbearers were Walter Forward, Howard Matthews, Clark Lane, Paul Lane, Fred Peterson and Otto Munson.
