Burns Sustained May 1 Prove Fatal Saturday For Mrs. Mary England
A Rock Falls woman died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Community General hospital as the result of first, second and third degree burns suffered in an accident at her home May 1.
Mrs. Mary Jane England, 72, 712 Eleventh avenue, Rock Falls, succumbed to serious burns from her waist down, suffered when her dress caught afired while working near a rubbish fire in the yard.
A coroner's jury ruled death was caused by burns at an inquest held Saturday at the Wheelock funeral home. Whiteside Coroner John Meyer conducted the hearing.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wheelock funeral home, Rev. Harry E. Shiffer, pastor of the Rock Falls Christian church, officiating. Interment will be in the Rock Falls Odd Fellows cemetery.
Mrs. England was born Nov. 2, 1879 at Whitehall, Ill., the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lawson.
Surviving are her husband, LeRoy; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Gray and Mrs. Clarence Yinger of Rock Falls; one son, Carroll England of Sterling; one brother, Albert Lawson of Hazelhurst; three sisters, Mrs. Stat Bowman of Rock Falls, Mrs. Frank Elhoffer of Rock Falls; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Russell England; one brother, William Lawson, and a sister, Mrs. David Axley.
