Mrs. Bertha Butler, 82, Resident of Hume, Dies; Rites Tuesday
 
Tampico: - Mrs. Bertha Reed Butler, 82, died late Saturday at the Linton Nursing Home in Sterling following a lingering illness.
 
The body was brought to the Parent Chapel where friends may call.  Funeral services will be conducted at the chapel Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. Ivan Obenshain, pastor of the Rock Falls Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will be in the Riverside cemetery at Prophetstown.
 
Mrs. Butler was born June 5, 1877 in Hume township, the daughter of William and Susan Adams Reed. She was reared and educated in the Hume township community and attended school there,.  She was married to Harry Butler on Feb. 7, 1893, in Hume township at the home of her parents.  She lived her entire lifetime in the Hume community.
 
She was a member of the Rock Falls Methodist Church, the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the church, the Women's Christian Temperance Union, King's Daughters, Literary Club, and Rock Falls Garden Club.  She was active in all these organizations until her health failed.
 
Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Anna Burden, Prophetstown and Mrs. Bessie Watson, Tampico;  one brother, George Reed, Menominee, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
