Mrs. Alice T. Burke Passes Away Monday
 
Tampico: - Mrs. Alice T. Burke, 79, passed away Monday evening at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Sterling.  She had been in ill health for the past 13 months.
 
She was born in Ohio, Ill., Dec. 20, 1882, the daughter of Michael and Mary Fagan.  She received her education in the Ohio schools. She married James Sterling Burke, Nov. 23, 1910 in Ohio and she had resided the past 52 years in the Tampico area.
 
Mrs. Burke taught in the rural schools before her marriage and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.  She served as director of the Maple Hill School District and drainage commissioneer of the Tampico Hahnaman Drainage District Two.
 
Surviving are four sons, Edward S.,  Peter M.,  Joseph L., all of Tampico, and Francis of Peoria;  one daughter, Mrs. Roland (Helen) Sibley of Prophetstown;  one brother Wayne Fagan, Amboy;  one sister, Mrs. John McGonigle of Danville, Calif.;  12 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1927, three brothers and five sisters.
 
Funeral services will be held Thursday at St. Mary's Church at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. A. M. Weitekamp and the Rev. M. McKinstras officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Schmitt Funeral Chapel at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening until the time of service.
