Obit:

Michael “Mick” N. WETZELL, age 54, of 201 W. 5th Street, Prophetstown, IL died January 24, 2000 at the Iowa City Veteran’s Hopsital in Iowa City, Iowa.

 

Funeral serices will be conducted on Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with Rev. Linda Hood, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Tampico, officiating. Burial will be In the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Military graveside services will be accorded by Marine Inspector Insturctor Staff of Rock Island, Illinois. A memorial has been established in his memory. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2000 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

 

Michael was born in October 31, 1945, in Sterling, IL, the son of Norman and Bette Schultz Wetzell. He served in the U. S. Marine s a Sgt. During the Vietnam War. He married Dianne Schultz in 1969. He was a heavy equipment operator.

 

Michael is survived by one daughter Wendy (Dave) Smith of Tempe, Arizona, one son Scott (Angi) Wetzell of Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania; 3 grandchildren Cody Kokois and Luke Smith of Tempe, Arizona and Keefer Wetzell of Lake Areil, Pennsylvania; his mother Bette Sherman of Tampico; 2 brothers Ronald A. (Cynthia) Wetzell of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Charles S. Wetzell of Prophetsown, IL; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
