OBITUARY

Mr. Paul D. Wetzell, age 92, of 2602 Star Road, Tampico, Illinois died Saturday, December 13, 1997 in Prophets Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 16 at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Tampico with Rev. Linda Hood, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visistation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with masonic services at 8 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory to the First united Methodist Church of Tampico.

 

Mr. Wetzell was born on December 18, 1904 in Tampico, Illinois, the son of John L. and Mary Mae Olds Wetzell. He was united in marriage to Monafae Price on August 24, 1927 at Elizabeth, Illinois. He faremed in the Tampico area for over sixty-five years.

 

He was member of the First United Methodist Church of Tampico for eighty years and ws Sunday School Superintendent for manyyears and served on all church committees. He was a past member of the Tampic Grade School and High School baords. He was amember of the Tampico Elevator Board, member of the Farm Bureau, member and past member of Prophetstown Masonic Lodge #293 AF & AM, and he was a member of the Eastern Star.

 

He is survived by his wife, Monafae of Tampico; three sons, Arthur (Marjorie) Wetzell and John (Anna Mae) Wetzell, both of Tampico; and Richard (Lois)Wetzell of Rock Falls; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numberous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in  death by his parents, two brothers, Wilbur and John H. and one great-grandson, Eric Wetzell.
