DONALD D. OWENS
Tampico: - Donald D. Owens, 61, of Tampico, died early Thursday morning in Community General Hospital following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Allen-Schmitt-Garland Funeral Chapel in Tampico with the Rev. Robert J. LeMont, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Yorktown, officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the chapel. A memorial has been established in his memory.
Mr. Owens was born March 12, 1921 in Yorktown, the son of Robert and Mary (Miller) Owens. He was united in marriage to Lucille Hasselman on Nov. 29, 1944 in Yorktown. He was owner and operator of Don Owens Trucking for the past 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Tampico American Legion Post 574.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille, one son, Gary D., of Tampico; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Donald (Mary) Vansant of Rock Falls, and an aunt and uncle who raised him, Mr. and and Mrs. James Thompson of Yorktown.
He was preceded in death by his father.
