Richard L. Nuelle, age 87, of Civic Plaza II in Rock Falls, Illinois, formerly of Tampico, died Sunday, August 17, 2003, at the Civic Plaza.
Mr. Nuelle was born March 2, 1916, in Langdon, North Dakota, the son of Fred and Gertrude (Mueller) Nuelle. He was united in marriage to Mary Waite on November 11, 1934, in Sterling, Illinois. She preceded him in death February 16, 1996. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Tampico Fire Department for 50 years and a member of the Tampico Town Board for four years.
He is survived by three daughters; Mary Anne (Lowell) Batten of Tampico, Illinois, Dorothy (Fred) McCracken of Wyanet, Illinois, Kathy (Melvin) Johnson of Tampico, Illinois; one son, James (Karen) Nuelle of Taylorville, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Nuelle of Rockford, Illinois; one sister, Edith Warkins of Mt. Morris, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend Dorris Lehman of Rock Falls, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son; three brothers, Robert, Edwin, and Walt; two sisters, Laura and Elda and two great-grandsons.
Cremation rites were accorded. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1"30 p.m. at the Tampico Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Wansley, pastor of Taylorville Christian Church officiating. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established in his memory to the Tampico Fire Department. Arrangements were completed by the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico.
