Mrs. E. Lucille Owens, age 75, of 1113 5th Avenue, Rock Falls, Illinois, and formerly of Tampico, Illinois, died early Saturday morning, June 12, 1999 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Illinois.
Mrs. Owens' body was cremated and graveside funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Tampico Memorial Cemetery in Tampico, with the Rev. Jeffrey Clements, pastor of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown officiating. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established in her memory to the Tampico Historical Society and the Tampico Community Building. The Garland Funeral Home in Tampico is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Owens was born on June 29, 1923 in Deer Grove, the daughter of Elmer and Evelyn Rinehart Hasselman. She was united in marriage to Donald D. Owens on November 29, 1944 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Yorktown and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1982. She and her husband owned and operated Owens Trucking Company in Tampico in their lifetime and she also owned and operated Merle Norman Studio in Tampico for 30 years.
She is survived by one son, Gary (Karen) Owens of Scottsdale, Arizona; two grandchildren, Mrs. Todd (Sandra Lynn) Tornow and Nickolas Owens, both of Tampico, Illinois; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Tornow, Cassandra Tornow, Madeline Tornow, all of Tampico, Illinois, John Silver and Heather Silver, both of New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
