Glenn V. Durham, 94, of 312 Depot St., Walnut, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Born Sept. 19, 1913, in Walnut Township to Walter and Matilda (
Johnson) Durham, he married Esther
Anderson Feb. 12, 1936, in Princeton. She died Feb. 11, 1953. He then married Virginia M. (Sterling) Hassler Sept. 3, 1959, in Walnut. She died July 16, 1997.
He farmed in the Walnut and Manlius area during his lifetime and also worked for a courier service in the area for about 15 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Walnut.
Surviving are one daughter, Janet (Duane)
Christensen of Walnut; four stepchildren, Robert (Carol)
Hassler of New Bedford, David (Peggy)
Hassler of Walnut, Sue (Richard)
Frank of Ohio, Ill., and Judy (Francis)
Jorgensen of Princeton; one sister, Marilyn (LaVern)
Burmeister of Walnut; two grandchildren, Ken (Tina)
Christensen of Walnut and Connie (Bill)
Spears of Tampico; four great-grandchildren, Brett and Shawn
Christensen, and Nicole and Bradly
Spears; numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Orval
Durham; one sister, Lois
Ohda; one stepson, Joe
Hassler; two stepgrandchildren; and one niece, Carol
Stauter.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the
Rev. Brian Moore, pastor of the First Christian Church of Walnut, and
Pastor Pearle Lange officiating. Cremation rites were accorded and burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Princeton.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
