Harry E. Rice, 81, Tampico, Passes Away
 
Tampico: - Harry E. Rice, 81,, died Friday in St. Francis Hospital in Kewanee.
 
Mr. Rice was born on Dec. 4, 1881, the son of Frank G. and Minnie K. Rice in Sandwich, and was reared and educated in the Sandwich area.  He married Abbie S. Hiller on Nov. 12, 1924 in Princeton. He served in the U. S. Army during World War I with overseas duty in France. When discharged from the army he moved to the Tampico area, where he was employed as a drayman and later was employed with the Simpson-Powelson Lumber Company until retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post, and former mayor of Tampico.
 
Surviving are three nephews, Harold Rice, Florida, Harvey Kenneson, Sheffield, Foster Hewett, Moline, other survivors are Mrs. Robert Shepard, Albuquerque, New Mexico; John Hiller, Mrs. Leslie Melchi both of Hooppole, Ward and Fred Fisher, both of Dixon.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Abbie who died in 1958, one brother, Frances K., one nephew, and one niece.
 
Funeral services will be held at the Schmitt Chapel Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Theodore Dahl of the Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by the American Legiion. Burial will be in the Memorial Cemetery.
 
Friends may call at the funeral chapel this evening after 7 p.m.
