KERMIT BRANSON
Tampico: - Kermit Branson, 65, Tampico, died late Friday evening at Community General Hospital after a long illness.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday at the Allen-Schmitt-Garland Funeral Home, Tampico. The Rev. Brad Wilson, pastor of the Tampico United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Hollis R. Wharton, retired pastor of the Tampico Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Branson was born June 5, 1918 in Nebo, Illinois, the son of Walter C. and Esther (Hack) Branson. He married the former Gertrude M. May on June 26, 1942, in Jacksonville, Illinois. He worked as Yard Manager in Tampico, and later in the Sterling office for 36 years for Simpson-Powelson Lumber Company, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Tampico United Methodist Church, Tampico Volunteer Fire Department, Yorktown Masonic Lodge, AF and AM, Township clerk and supervisor for many years, and had been active in community affairs throughout his lilfe.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude, one son, Gary, Lafayette, Ind.; three brothers, Bernard, Hartford; Kelly, Pittsfield; and L. D. Branson, Tulsa, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
