FRANCIS J. McCORMICK
Tampico: Francis J. McCormick, 68, of 312 E. 2nd St., died Wednesday at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, following a sudden illness. Prayer service is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Garland Funeral home, Tampico, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rev. James Trannel, officiating. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, with graveside military services accorded by the Tampico American Legion Post 574. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, scripture service 7:30 p.m.
Mr. McCormick was born March 8, 1921 in Deer Grove, the son of William and Mary Kilroy McCormick. He married Helen Kravchuk, Feb. 7, 1942 in Chicago. Mr. McCormick was educated in Tampico schools and employed by Sterling Foundry for several years. He also farmed in the Tampico area 16 years, and was employed by Penberthy Foundry in Prophetstown for 20 years, retiring in 1983. He served with the U.S. Navy on a destroyer during World War II, and was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Tampico American Legion Post 574.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, William of Chariton, Ia., Kenneth of Chicago, James of Sterling, one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Pat) Wynn of Waukegan; nine grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Joseph.
