Peter Andreas, farmer, section 14, Sterling Township, as born Jan. 19, 1822, in Lancaster Co., Pa., which was the native State of his parents, Martin and Nancy (Metzler) Andreas, who had four children, --Peter, Henry, John and Martin. At the age of 23, Mr. Andreas rented a farm and was engaged in agriculture in Pennsylvania until his removal to Illinois, which event transpired in the spring of 1865. He bought about 160 acres on section 25, Sterling Township, on which he settled and lived 14 years.
In 1882 he bought a small tract of land on section 14, where he erected excellent farm buildings, and has since occupied the place. He owns 137 acres at present, which is all under tillage.
In political sentiment, Mr. Andreas is a Republican, and he has officiated in township offices 18 years.
He was married Oct. 10, 1844, in Lancaster Co., Pa., to Mary Geist, and they have eight children, named and born in the following order: Martin G., Mary A., Catherine, Philip, Amanda, Frank, Lizzie and Harry. Mrs. Andreas is the daughter of Philip and Mary (Book) Geist, who were born in Pennsylvania, and who were the parents of two daughters,--Catherine and Mary.
