The Tampico Lions Club held their annual Pancake Breakfast at the Tampico Middle school on Sunday, March 6. The event is always anticipated and well-attended. This year they served 285 hungry residents. It’s a big job for these fellows; each Lion taking his position at a food station, while other Lions scurry to take orders and serve the crowd. The meal consists of pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs and a choice of several beverages. Several Lions made a point to mention their gratitude to Arlan Kohler for donating the hog to make the sausage. The Lions Club is open to men & women and is best known for helping people in its community to purchase hearing aids or glasses. They also have a Scholarship Program. If you would like more information about their services or becoming a Lion, contact Terry Gaskill, 815-535-3665 or any Lion member. The money donated helps to support the other Community events sponsored by the club throughout the year, such as the Santa’s visit to the elementary school, and the upcoming Easter Egg Walk. The Tampico Lions want to thank all of those who participated and donated this year. It’s a sure bet that no tummies were growling when they left. The Lions Club’s motto is “We Serve” – and that they did!
