Tampico Tornado, Saturday, Aug. 11, 1894
Dr. A. C. Smith of this place, assisted by Drs. Anthony and Keefer, of Sterling, performed a successful operation upon a six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Glassburn, who lives five miles north-east of here, last week Freday. The lad has been troubled for six months with pyothorax, the right pleurae cavity being filled with pus. In order to relieve this, it was necessary to remove a part of the sixth rib and then open the pleure. The little lad withstood the operation and rallied in good shape, and he has since slept well and has a good appetite and his recovery is almost assured.
