Hearts held away on St. Valentine's day at the home of Miss Georgia LaDue where a number of her friends were entertained in the evening at a Valentine party. When the thirty guests had assembled, slips of paper were passed and each was to ask the other a question which if it could not be answered before the questioner counted ten, a slip was forfeited. Miss Edna Sumption succeeded in obtaining the most slips. This game caused considerable merriment as everybody seemed to be talking at once. Mind reading, a game that followed was a mystery to the guests for some time. The guests were then marched around a table and given paper on which to note the objects they saw. Mrs. Arlie Love remembered the most and secured the prize, a pretty valentine. Partners for refreshments were secured by a lady and gentleman taking hold of hearts on the end of a string in obscure corners and winding the string up until they met their "valentine." ; Dainty refreshments were served in the dining room which was decorated nicely with red and white festooning. Valentines covered the walls and the napkins were heart shaped. A "Jack Horner" pie made of white crepe paper, containing comic valentines, which were drawn out by ribbons, served as souvenirs. The party was an exceedingly pleasant affair and Miss LaDue entertained her guests in a charming manner.
The following is a list of the guests: Maggie Sturm, Darlene West, Anna Quaintance, Lena Forward, Lizzie McCracken, Sadie Pope, Ida Griffin, Jennie Knox, Mae Allen, Anny Brown, Ruth Sorenson, Vera Sumption, Blanche Love, Edna Sumption; Messrs. Roy McKenzie, Tracy Wylie, Otto Quaintance, Fred Glassburn, Harve Sumption, Louis Foy, Ed Conner, Joe Sumption, John Pierce, Will Collins, Bennie Brainard, Gideon Love, Guy Parent, Ralph Glassburn and Arlie Love.
