TAMPICO OUT-SPELLS CHICAGO
A test in spelling was recently given inChicago to a number of eighth grade schools in which the average for the room was fifty to seventy-two percent. Mr. Denison gave the same list to his seventh and eight grade pupils to see how their grade would compare with the Chicago pupils. His eighth grade averaged eighty-eight per cent and the seventh seventy-three per cent. The list comprised of twenty words of common use. Of these, anxiety, probably, gradually, physician and invincible were the five words most missed. Tampico young people are better spellers than their city cousins.
