I need some help please - Received this query from Sandi Hartnell:
The 1912 Map of Tampico Township shows M.R. Lyon owning the property at the northwest corner of Section 24. The school symobile appears at the very northwest corner of his property right at the intersection of the two roads which run through sections 14, 13, 23, and 24. Thos two roads are the ones I'd like the names of. Since the father Marcus Ruel Lyon died in 1908, this property may have been owned by the son, Marcus Jr., in 1912. I did not look for property information at the Register of Deeds office on this land, only the lot in town they owned at 301 Market. It may be that the father never owned this property. The 1898 map shows the school in the same place. The property at that time belonged to L.H. Rogers. The son would have been 21 years old in 1912. In 1898 M.R. Lyon property shows up in two parts of section 6 and one part of section 7. Coincidentally, there is also a school on the corner of his property in Section 7. If you can identify the road (if there is one that is the east county line road, and also the road that runs between sections 6 and 7, that would be great. These 3 pieces of land are owned in 1912 by his son, Hubert Lyon, and Frank West, Frank being his son-in-law. In 1912 Marcus Lyon also owns a section at the southwest corner of section 7. It would be nice to know the name of the road (if there is one) that runs between sections 7 and 18.

I can see the school on our 1936 map which shows property owned by Susie J. Sipel. I think this is Maple Hill School, but not sure. Hope others can help me out here. ~ Denise If it is the Maple Hill School, it is noted in the History of Hahnaman from the Centennial Year Book Amish have purchased the Maple Hill and use it for their own school. I think the school on section 7 (owned by F West in 1936) may be one of the Hume Schools.
