Searching for information on the FASSETT surname. My great grandfather Allen Earl FASSETT and his wife Mary Ann OLDHAM lived in Whiteside Co, where their three sons were born: William C, Frank S, and George H. There were other members of the FASSETT family in the area that I am trying to tie into our tree. Anyone on here part of this family?

Yes, this is my family and thank you for your kind and informative reply. Allen Earl FASSETT actually served in the Civil War twice, once from PA and once from IL. Mary died 28 July 1877 and is buried in Fulton. Allen Earl died 3 Feb 1910 in Custer, Whatcom Co, WA and is buried next to Mary in Fulton.

Their son William C. FASSETT born 21 Sept 1870 was my grandfather. When his Mother died he went to live with another family. I have pictures of Mr. and Mrs. WHITE that raised him but no given names. Any ideas how I can learn them?

Also searching for information on Mary Ann's parents. Father: Joseph A. OLDHAM b 1812ca in VT and death and place of death and burial unknown; Mother: Mary Ann FASSETT b 10 June 1818 Forkston, Wyoming Co, PA and died 9 Sept 1871 Erie, Whiteside Co, IL.

Couldn't find any Fassett living with a WHITE family but did find the following:
1880 United States Federal Census > Illinois > Whiteside > Union Grove > District 215
A Wm. Fassett is listed as an adopted son, living with Mary D. and Clarence Houghton. Age: 9yrs. (puts it in the ballpark). Birthplace listed as IL, but parents are listed as born in Conn. Mary D Houghton's parents were from VT.

I have a Edwin Alonzo Fassett b April 1857 IL d January 5, 1932 in Albany, Whiteside Co, IL m November 27, 1897 Anna Grace Drury nee Nicewonger in Albany, Whiteside Co, IL. Anna b June 18, 1863 Latrobe, Westmoreland Co, PA d April 1915 Albany Two, Whiteside Co, IL buried Albany Cemetery, Whiteside Co, IL. They had no children. This was both of their second marriages. I can't remember what his first wife's name was. There is a marriage record in the IL marriage index for both Anna and the first wife.
Hope this helps in some small way. I'm related to the Nicewonger line.
Marilynn
