Les: The only information I have is that her mother was Margaret Stuart Ritchie who married John McKenzie in Scotland in 1833. The family came to America in 1838. Her daughter Margaret McKenzie was born on 8 Sep 1834.
In the obituary for Mrs McKenzie a daughter. Mrs W.J.Savage was mentioned. It is my understanding that Margaret McKenzie married James Lee Savage and shortly after the marriage, the couple left for the west and settled in Oregon.
James Lee had several siblings (one of whom was William) and I wonder if Mrs W.J.Savage`s husband was that William Savage, one of James Lee`s siblings.

Margaret Stuart Ritchie is part of the extensive Ritchie family in Whiteside County. She was the oldest child of George Ritchie and Margaret Reid and was born near Aberdeen, Scotland. The senior Ritchies had 14 children and remained in Scotland. Five or six of their children settled in or around Whiteside County. Several of the children remained in Scotland. Two or three of the children settled in Nova Scotia.
Margaret Stuart Ritchie's husband, John MacKenzie, was the first Whiteside County supervisor from Ustick Township.
Her eldest child was Margaret MacKenzie who married James Lee Savage and moved to Oregon.
Margaret MacKenzie Savage's younger sister, Helen MacKenzie, did indeed marry James's brother, William J. Savage. I believe they lived in Morrison. I really don't know more about William and Helen Savage.
Margaret and Helen MacKenzie's baby sister, Clarissa MacKenzie, married Thomas Janvrin and was an ancestor of the late Janvrin ('Jan') Earl Mitchell of Fulton.
Margaret Stuart Ritchie's younger siblings followed her from Scotland to Whiteside County. Among them, Arbuthnot W. Ritchie, an ancestor of Carl Adan Ritchie who had an interest in H.B. Wilkinson Title Company for many years. If memory serves, another descendant, Zula May Ritchie Whistler, was a one-time Whiteside County Court Clerk.
I am descended from Jean Ritchie, 10th child of George and Margaret Reid Ritchie. Before leaving Scotland, she married Peter Taylor Durward. Together, they were the progenitors of the Durward family of Whiteside and Carroll Counties and Northwest Illinois. The late Pauline Schuler (wife of Eddie Schuler) of Morrison was a g-granddaughter.
