I'm a descendent of John & Betsy McKenzie's son Delafayette. Delafayette's son Julius "Cless" McKenzie. Cless and his wife Clara (Fones) moved to Mitchell Co., TX, then to Anita, Cass Co., IA, then finally to Eckley, Colorado. He died in 1912 after being shot by his next door neighbor over a dispute about boundary lines. His son Albert"Bert" gave up ranching and became a banker in Otis, Washington Co., Colorado. Bert married Agnes (Farwell) and had 3 children. Cless also had a daughter Lula May. She married George Haver. They had a son named Wilbur. Shortly after that she was trapped inside a chicken coop that was on fire and died.
I am also looking for more information on Delafayette's other sons Fred, Nathan, and Wallace. I am also looking for two pieces of info for Julius Clesson: the 1870 and 1880 censuses. I've tried to locate them through Ancestry, but I'm guessing their names are mispelled.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

Melanie,
Here's some information from The Tampico Tornado:
April 25, 1912 Accident Results in Death J.C. McKENZIE, brother of N.L. McKENZIE of Rock Falls and a relative of the Tampico McKENZIEs who was wounded in an accident at Eckley, Col., on April 17, died on April 19, death occurring before his brother, N.L. McKENZIE, was able to get to his bedside. After the accident Mr. McKENZIE was hurried to a hospital, where death occurred. The remains will be shipped to Anita, Iowa, where the burial will occur at his former home. He is survived by his wive and son Bert and one daughter, Mrs. Lula HANER. Also by three brothers, N.L. McKENZIE of Rock Falls, F.E. McKENZIE of Colorado, Texas, and W.L. McKENZIE of Chula Vista, Cal. Mr. McKENZIE was born in Portland township, Whiteside Co., Nov. 19, 1860.

You'll be happy to know the McKenzies have their own website: www.McKenzieusa.org. Using the surname search I found D.Lafayette, the father of Julius Clesson McKenzie and his siblings: Wallace L. McKenzie (four Children, Celia Lou, Mildred, Harvey, and Karl.) Fred E. McKenzie (one daughter: Mazel Aise.) Nathan LLewellyn McKenzie (spouse: Minnie Dudley, children: Myrtle Wardell, Fayette Havens, and Grace Emma. I recently bought the site that was the John/Betsy McKenzie homeplace from 1846. Robert McKenzie took over this property upon the death of John in 1857. Last week while removing some plaster I found the clearly written name of Robert McKenzie on some lath. Robert, brother to DeLafayette, also was brother to Oliver Wells McKenzie who ran the old General Store in Yorktown which still exists. If you get back to Illinois please stop in Yorktown...
