Can anyone tell me if Mabel Blackert lived on a farm just north of the old Yorktown school in the early 1990's? Thanks

Debbie, I think you might have errantly typed "early 1990s" when you meant "early 1890s".
I have Mable's birthdate as July 21, 1896:
From the Tampico Tornado: July 25, 1896 Ambrose SHERE, of Yorktown, is the proud and happy father of a handsome young daughter, who arrived at his home last Tuesday.
Also, you mentioned her as Mabel BLACKERT (her husband being George BLACKERT). Do you know when she was "remarried" to George and what happened to her 1st husband Harry MARTIN?
Tampico Tornado October 15, 1914 SHERE-MARTIN Wedding The wedding of Miss Mabel SHERE and Harry MARTIN two prominent Yorktown young people occurred Wednesday at high noon at the home of the bride's parents southwest of Yorktown. The ceremony was performed by Rev. M. BROWNRIGG pastor of the Tampico-Yorktown Christian chruches and only the close friends and immediate relatives were present. After the ceremony the wedding party and guests partook of a fine repast served by the bride's mother. The bride is the daughter of A.A. SHERE one of the well known farmers and stock raisers residing southwest of Yorktown. She is a pleasant, refined young lady who has numbers of friends not only in Yorktown but also in Tampico who tender their best wishes. The groom is a splendid, hustling young farmer.
Thanks, Les

Les- I did know that she was marries to a Martin first but do not know what happened to him. In the 1990's I delivered newspapers on a rural route that went south and through Yorktown. At that time I did not realize that I had such a big family history there. I was just curious if the Mrs. Blackert I delivered a paper to was actually a relative and I just did not know it. Deb

Deb, Sorry for the misunderstanding. I show her as dying June 11, 1994 in Yorktown; 40 days short of her 98th birthday!! Thus, she is probably indeed the woman you delivered papers to in the early 1990's.
Too bad when we were young we didn't take time to get to know our older relatives on three counts: First, we would have gotten a real personal education in history (of family and times); second, our older relatives would have felt good about us taking interest in their lives and times; and, third, our MEMORY as children was sooo much better it is as we get older!

Les- You sure are right about the memory part- She certainly lived a long life. It's too bad I did not know who she was at the time. I would have stopped and talked with her. Hindsight is 20/20! Deb
