Hello "Morse family" - Could you please be more specific as to what information you are looking for? If you have "info" from Ancestry (census records, military records,??), property ownership and newspaper articles from Sterling and misc. information on this site, I am not sure what other information you want. Thank you, Denise

Hello Denise, I hope you had a fun weekend! What I am looking for #1 obits for Austin and Bathsheba I can't find either one???? Buried in Riverside Cemetery. They lived in the Hume/Sterling area in the late 1850s to 1900s. There was another Austin Morse in the same area at the same time and it gets confusing. I do know he was a carpenter/farmer, at one point with his brothers was a city official. Sister Irene Lamb, along with his daughter Julia Johnson and her 2 sons Irving and Morris lived on 10th Ave. Rock Falls in 1900 census. Are there any photos of the Morse family since he was a city official? Are there any books or papers not on the internet that I could buy or get copies of? I've left posts on other Illinois sites and haven't recieved responses:( If you can point me in the right direction on more info on the family....Thank you, Laurie Morse

Sterling Gazette" shows the following: Morse, Austin (Beth Vinton) obituary 30 Dec 1907;1;7 Morse, Austin (Beth Vinton) obituary 30 Dec 1907;6;2 Morse, Austin (Beth Vinton) obituary 30 Dec 1907;Standard;6;2 Morse, Austin (Beth Vinton) funeral rites 2 Jan 1908;3;1 Morse, Austin (Beth Vinton) funeral rites 2 Jan 1908;Standard;6;2
You can try contacting the library directly for a copy of the obit. Sterling Public Library, 102 W. 3rd St., Sterling, IL (815)625-1370, ext 11, director@sterlingpubliclibrary.org or genealogy@sterlingpubliclibrary.org
Just a "heads-up" - the last 5 people I have referred there have not gotten a response after several attempts. If you don't have any luck, let me know and I can go there and either transcribe the obit at no charge OR if you want actual copy, I need to be reimbursed the 75 cents/page they charge me to print it.

You also may want to contact Sterling/Rock Falls Historical Society. They archive the Sterling Gazette newspapers as well, and may have photos and family file. Sterling/Rock Falls Historical Society
