The Tampico Area Historical Society encompasses parts of Whiteside County and Bureau County in Illinois. Focus is on Tampico, Hume Twp., Hahnaman/Deer Grove, & Prophetstown in Whiteside County & Yorktown & Thomas in Bureau County.

Any information on this family. My mother was Linda Loiuse Zikes/Zykes Orphaned at 3 years old Adopted by Barger Family Illinois. Had many blood brothers and sisters.She was born 1938 September 28.Any Information very much appriciated. My mothers parents raised her in Decatur Ill.(vera and Nelson Barger).Mother also has a adopted brother Rolly barger of champaigne Ill.All I know is she was adopted through a orphanage in this area when she was 3.I am not even sure of the spelling of Zikes.I have heard she had many real brothers and sisters, Some of them or some family surley would still be around this part of Illinois.My mother died of bone cancer in 1997 at age 57 So I can`t get any more info than I have.

Cheryl,
I am not familiar with a "Cove County" in IL. There is a Matoon, Cole Co. IL and a Charleston, Cole County, IL. Where did the Barger family live? Do you know their first names? Any other clues on this? (There were some Barger families in Bureau County, IL) I need more details please.
