Thought it might go well with the link http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/ILUnionVolunteerRegiments.html Charles served in the Union Army, 34th Illinois Infantry as a private. He was born and married within Whiteside county, Illinois. He is laid to rest in an Oklahoma Veteran Memorial Cemetary. If anyone is interested, I have a great picture of him and his 4 living children, c1890's. Section 18, township Little Blue. 31885, owned 590 acres in Nebraska, farmer and stock Raiser. Injured his leg in his march with Sherman troops to Atlanta, spent 2 weeks in the hospital and was released when the war ended. He was average build, talked real fast and had a quick but not violent temper. He never swore but his by word was Guldermit. Peterson 38 posts Apr 25, 2006 8:25 PM	Brian- thanks for posting this- George & Nancy Foy were my gg grandmother's Aunt and Uncle She was Sarah Jones Dow and lived with them when she first came to Whiteside County. Her mother was Anna - Nancy's sister. If you have an extra copy of Charles photo I would like to have one . Thanks- Deb Peterson
briansanders 3 posts Apr 25, 2006 10:55 PM	Debra, I have a photo of Charles Foy and his 4 boys on my website, taken around 1890, located at www.sandersfamilia.com, under "restoration". You can select that image and do a "save as". I will have a higher resolution image available online, soon. The story of this photo is that it was taken shortly after Charles' wife, Adelia Arnold, passed away, while giving birth. Her picture can be seen on the table. Charles Foy is sitting on the right and Edwin Foy (young boy) is to the left. Edwin Foy is my G grandfather who married Jennie Weber. Jennie Weber Foy's photo album is also located on my website.
