I have been transcribing the Tampico Tornado newspaper (1886-1920) for some time now (although there is much transcibing yet to do in these papers.) As a result, I have accumulated a considerable amount of articles regarding the daily lives of the DOW, McKENZIE, PIERCESON, SHERE and other relate families. I will pull together as many articles regarding as many "reunion" families as will be showing up for the reunion. If you are going to attend the reunion and you would like articles on a "reunion family" please email your request to me and I will put together as much as I can for the reunion.

Hey folks! Just wanted to ask a BIG favor of those of you attending the reunion. . . If you have copies of family history, photos, etc. we would love to add them to our archives in the Family History Library/Research center in the Historical Society/Museum. Please consider donating copies to us.
We also have a brand new printer/scanner/copier at the FHL/RC. They do charge 25 cents for b/w and 50 for colored copies. I believe it is the only copier in town. :>)

Keep in mind we have many of the Tampico Tornado newspapers, even dates that are not on microfilm by the state. You may want to bring a list of important dates to look up.

The Bureau County Genealogical Society is also a great resource as well. They are not open on weekends except by appt. So be sure to give them a call in advance if you would like to visit there. They have indexed all of the Bureau County newspapers - awesome!

Hey you guyyyyyyys! I am soooooo excited about this reunion. I've already met Mike Shere. I'm looking forward to the lunch on Saturday. If anyone wants to come to the Historical Society, please let us know. It is open on Sat & Sun from 1 - 4, but if we know in advance that several folks are coming, we can have extra people there to cover the first and second floors. We can also be there "after hours". Just contact me 815-438-2065 or TAHS president Joan Johnson, 815-438-7581. We have lots of Tampico Tornado newspapers, so bring your list of important dates to check. Also, members of TAHS will have access to Ancestry.com and Genealogy.com in our Family History Library/Research Center on the 2nd floor. This is for MEMBERS ONLY. If you need to renew or join, you can print out a form - click on tab at top of this page "Membership App/Donations." I'll bring extra forms to the lunch as well :>) - gotta love me!
Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you in advance to make your visit more productive.

The Shere/Pierceson/Dow/McKenzie reunion was held yesterday and was a great time! Twenty were in attendance. Some members were reunited and some met family members for the first time. Thanks to all who attended and made the reunion a huge success! Details of the reunion will be posted at a later date.
