Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knows any of the history on the old Hume Cemetery on Rt 172, Whiteside County, often referred to as the "Wetzell" cemetery. When did they stop burying people there? When was it "organized"? Was it a "public" cemetery? I don't know anything about this cemetery and don't recall reading about it in any history book, so I would be interested in learning about it. You could email me, but I think it is of interest to others, so I would appreciate if you could post to this message thread so others can learn with me.
Chris Walter's site on Genealogy Trails has much more info on it than I do. Be sure to check out her site if you have an interest in this cemetery: http://genealogytrails.com/ill/whiteside/cemhumewetzel.html
