The Tampico Area Historical Society encompasses parts of Whiteside County and Bureau County in Illinois. Focus is on Tampico, Hume Twp., Hahnaman/Deer Grove, & Prophetstown in Whiteside County & Yorktown & Thomas in Bureau County.

Hello Dolores,
Welcome to the board. May I ask what the connection is to our area - Whiteside County or Bureau Co, IL?
Dolores has emailed me the following information:
Elizabeth Ann (Betsy Ann) Johnston was born in 1827
Brecksville, Ohio (Cuyahoga County), married James
Monroe Newell, born in Brecksville, Ohio, married
in 1846, Ohio. Betsy died in Dec. 1909 in Bureau Cty.
and James died in 1865 in Camp Butler, Springfield, Ill.
I have no known names for her parents. I am trying to
find if she is related to my branch of the Johnston family.
