I would like to thank Terry Gaskill for his kind words and fond memories of my great grandmother Mary Ellen "Terry" Gholson. I am continuing my search on any information that has to do with her and her family growing up in Tampico. I will continue to be very grateful to anyone who can provide any further information regarding her or her family. If it helps, I know her father was a family physician. His name was Dr. H. A. Terry. He delivered Ronald Reagon. My great grandmother's grandfather was C. R. Aldrich and he had a house in Tampico that my great grandmother use to visit as a child. She was also a grade school teacher, although I am not sure if she taught at the school in Tampico. If anyone is interested in attending her visitation, it is scheduled for Wednesday 12/27 at Garland Funeral Home and her funeral is scheduled for Thursday. The times for each have not been told to me yet, but should be available soon.
Merry Christmas and God Bless, Linda

Hello, Linda... I'm glad to see your enthusiasm and love for this kind, outgoing, inclusive, responsive woman. The information she gave me has led to finding century after century of forebearers for which I am so, so grateful.
Peace to your heart, Linda. ---------- Dianne Glassburn Sandau

Hi Linda!
Was roaming on the computer, and saw the posting on your Grandmother, Mary Ellen. Not sure if you are Bobby's or Judy's child, but let me tell you that they (and Terry) had wonderful parents!! My Father, Wesley G. Broers, lived about 1/2 mile South and about 1/2 mile East of the Gholson farm. Dad later bought other farms in the immediate area. I could go on and on about them, but let me tell you that Mary Ellen and Bus were always "there" for you. I think Mary Ellen made the best molasses cookies, EVER! Hope someone in the Family has the recipe! My father died in 2005, and Mary Ellen phoned me to extend her sympathies. How nice! She sounded just as I had always remembered!
Terry, Judy, and Bobby were all nice kids, and we grew up together...Catholic Church too, of course! So since you are a child of one of them, you're "Great" in my book! Thank you for the posting. You may know my Sister and Brother-in-law, Richard and Jane Roesslein. They live about 1/2 mile South of the Gholson farm. Their daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Mike Verhulst live where my Mother and Father lived...about another 1/2 mile East. My mother, Mary Jane Broers was quite close to Mary Ellen.
I'm retired, and live in Tampa, FL. A good place to be, these days for sure! Hope you're not covered in snow and ice. My brother lives in NC, so he's not so protected from the snow as I am. I remember the night Bus and Mary Ellen's house burned...terrible blizzard...roads impassable, and I think Dad walked over there along the drainage ditch which was near our house and near their house. Bus and Mary Ellen came home with Dad, and they stayed with us for a few days before they found other housing. They were so nice, and our whole family was found of them.
Need to run...Thanks again for the posting,
Best Regards,
Steve Broers
