It's time to start planning our annual Memorial Day Cemetery Walk for the Tampico Memorial Cemetery & St. Mary's Cemetery.
Is there someone special you would like to see represented?
Would you be willing to do a brief presentation?
Could you provide historical information on someone? Photos?

Our presentations run the gammet. Some folks give a brief (5 - 7 minute) biography on a person. Others come in full period costume and present in first person. Others provide us with song. It is truly a fun time for all and informative as well.

This year it will be on May 28, 2007. In the past it has started at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary's Cemetery and then on to the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. We always try to present at least one vet from each cemetery.

If you are local, please plan to join us. Please also consider a brief presentation on someone significant to you. Contact me at tahs@thewisp.net or president, Joan Johnson, garyjoan@thewisp.net if you would like to make a suggestion or to do a presentation.

Thanks!

Here is a link to the ROLL OF HONOR VETS buried in our local cemeteries. Are there any family members or friends of these families that would be willing to provide information or do a brief presentation on any of these soldiers for our Memorial Day Cemetery Walk in the TMC and St. Mary's Cemeteries? Please contact me ASAP. Thank you.

Just a reminder - I need volunteers and suggestions for persons to be represented during our 2007 Memorial Cemetery Walk in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery and St. Mary's. I would really like to see a Renner represented, but do not know anyone from this family. If you do, please ask them to contact me regarding this. Thank you.
Dr. Sharon Callaghan will be representing John Welch in St. Mary's. Terry Gaskill may be representing his folks in the TMC.

We will be honoring Nels Pierson in the TMC during our annual Memorial Day Cemetery walk. The census records show TWO persons by this name, both living in Tampico and about the same age. We are interested in Nels, the Blacksmith, wife was Sigrid, parents were ?erry and Hannah (Martinson). I think their children were Nadine and Nela and a son named Nels also. If you have any information to contribute to this presentation, it would be greatly apprecaited.
Tampico Cemetery:
Nels Pierson
b. Oct. 15, 1882 (WWI Draft Reg. card reads 1881 as dob)
d. Feb. 12, 1946
Buried in C-16
Census info indicates he immigrated in 1910 and became naturalized about 1912
