May I assume that your g/m "Mae" would be the same person as Lilly May? If so, she shows up on the 1880 census: 1880 United States Federal Census > Illinois > Henry > Yorktown > District 124 Name: Wm. Shere Home in 1880: Yorktown, Henry, Illinois Age: 31 Estimated birth year: abt 1849 Birthplace: New York Relation to head-of-household: Self (Head) Spouse's name: Charity Father's birthplace: Eng Mother's birthplace: Eng Neighbors: View others on page Occupation: Farmer Marital Status: Married Race: White Gender: Male Household Members: Name Age Wm. Shere 31 Charity Shere 23 Clarance Shere 5 Lily May Shere 3 Harriett Wolsey 15 David Peterson 19
I tried to check the IL Marriage Archives for a marriage, but the site is down right now. You may want to try it later at the following link:
http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/marriage.html
Also check their land maps:
http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/data_lan.html
You can access the 1880 census records for free on the LDS FHL site. www.familysearch.org
Plat maps are hard to come by. Our Sterling Library has a lot of info on Henry County. I can check on my next visit to see if I can find anything. We don't have any farmer's plat maps for Henry County that I am aware of. Henry County has a genealogical society - I think it's in Kewanee. I'll try to find the link to it, but you could "google" it as well.

Yes Denise you are correct- "Mae" is Lilly Mae Shere. She was my grandmother Temple's half sister.

Allen, I have a1915 plat map of Henry county. It shows the following for section 13, Yorktown Twp, Henry Co.: NE corner: Ambrose Shere - 80 acres NW Corner: Aaron Brants - 120 acres East Center (south of Ambrose Shere): A G.Seyller - not marked, but looks like 80 acres. SE corner: unmarked/vacant West Center - 80 acres unmarked for owner Central: John Berge - 120 acres Southern part of section, from West to East is divided into four sections of 40 acres each. Starting at the s/w corner and moving east, they are owned as follows: SW corner: W. F. Fehlmen - 40 acres Next 40 acres east of Fehlmen: Eshelman Next 40 acres: OJB Williams Last section - SE corner is 40 acres - no owner listed. Does this help? I'll send you a drawing in email to better explain this.
I also have a map of Bureau County (ca 1910 I think) that shows section 18, Yorktown, with A A Shere owning 40+ acres and Seyllers owning about same acerage just south of him.
Not sure if this is your lady or not, but the 1900 census shows a Fred & May Johnson living in P-town, with a son, Lloyd. Fred Johnson b. April 1877, IL, Farmer May Johnson, b. July 1877, IL Lloyd, son, b. Aug. 1898,1 yr., IL
1900 United States Federal Census Name: Fred Johnson Home in 1900: Prophetstown, Whiteside, Illinois Age: 23 Estimated birth year: abt 1877 Birthplace: Illinois Relationship to head-of-house: Head Spouse's name: May Race: White Occupation: View image Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Fred Johnson 23 May Johnson 22 Lloyd Johnson 1
