I am looking for any information on James Thompson, brother to Alexander Thompson. The obit for Alexander states that James Thompson of Tampico was responsible for Alexander's body when it was shipped in from Traer, Iowa for burial in Tampico cemetery in 1934.

Thank you,
Patty

Looking over the past messages, it seems, James Thompson may have also lived in Yorktown. Thanks again if you can help.

I am thinking that the 1910 James is the one I am looking for. Thank you again for your help. We finally found the Greenville/Fairfield Cemetery and I found James A./Alice N. there but like you when I did a search of the census I saw that he was born in Ohio. This 1910 James sounds more like mine. It is confusing because other family members have the family coming from Scotland either 1871 or 1874.
I was thinking he might be the oldest son because Alexander's obit says that Alexander was the second son. I don't know who the first son would have been now because they are all accounted for. You would of thought if James was the oldest he would have known his birth date was before the others. The search goes on...

Smiles,
Patty

Checking birthdates I found that James's sister Jennie was born June 01, 1875 in Elgin, Kane Co. So James couldn't have been born in 1875 in Scotland. Henrietta "Nettie" Quinn was born in 1871 in Scotland. So James could have been born between 1872-1874 if they were still in Scotland. I found Nettie in Chicago in the 1910 and 1920 census and in 1920 it says that she came to this country in 1874. A census for her mother says 1871. I am trying to pinpoint when they were in Elgin to figure out what years that they were in Tampico. Still trying to figure out what happened to their father since the mother remarried in 1882 in Kane Co. I believe the family was in Tampico sometime between 1877-1881. Did Alexander F. die in Tampico? He seems to just have disappeared and I find no reference to him anywhere.

Patty,
I think you need a trip to our FHL at the museum and peruse through the old Tornados. Members also have access to Ancestry.com and newpaper archives.com on the computer there.

I have information on James Thompson for Taylor. James was born August 12,1868 in Penpont Dumfries Scotland. I am also releated to James by another sister Mary May Thompson
born May 2,1873 in Tradeston,Glasgow Scotland. Mary Died on July 6,1911 of TB. She was not on any obit because she died before her brothers James or Alexander. Her children are listed as heirs also in the will of James. If you have any questions please contact me.
