I'm interested in information on the cemetary on Rte. 172 (Star Road) just east of what is locally known as Four-Mile Corner. It's a rather small cemetary and I've noticed in the past couple of years most of the tombstones have all been stacked near the center, probably due to disrepair. Hoever, the cemetary is well-maintained as someone keeps the grass mowed, etc. Is it a private family burial place...did it used to be connected with a church....just curious. Any info would be appreciated.

Hello Dave,
The cemetery you are referencing is the HUME cemetery, known locally as the WETZELL cemetery. You can find more information on this site by going to TABLE OF CONTENTS>Cemeteries>Hume. I am still gathering information on it and there are a few more graves to be photographed. I noticed last week there was some heavy equipment out there and it looked like they were re-positioning some of the fallen stones. This is part of our on-going cemetery project, so stay tuned for updates.
