Here are some of the CLEVELAND "clips" that I transcribed from the Tampico Tornado newspapers:
January 10, 1891 Family Reunion [excerpts] For many years it has been the custom of the members of the CLEVELAND family to hold a reunion each year, and generally the greater part of them meet. This year the rendezvous was at Supervisor Ed. CLEVELAND's, of Hume, Thursday, Jan. 1st. . . . Among those from abroad were Mrs. Geo. CLEVELAND of Blufton, Ala., and Suvala, daughter of Wm. CLEVELAND, who had just returned from Europe.
April 8, 1893 Mrs. Ed. CLEVELAND and daughter, of Hume, were guests of Mrs. M.J. GIFFORD last Tuesday.
January 14, 1896 Mrs. GIFFORD and Mrs. WAHL were visitors at Mrs. Ed CLEVELAND's, in Hume, last Tuesday afternoon.
October 29, 1898 Married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.L. McKENZIE, Myrtle McKENZIE and Charles CLEVELAND, only son of Nelson CLEVELAND of Prophetstown. About seventy-five friends gathered to witness the ceremony. Many useful and beautiful presents were received. Mr. and Mrs. CLEVELAND will begin keeping house in the spring on his father's farm, five miles east of Prophetstown.
May 5, 1900 Guy CLEVELAND of the Prophetstown Echo came up on the morning passenger Monday for a short visit. He made the Tornado a fraternal call.
August 31, 1901 Mr. H.A. STURTEVANT and Miss Jennie CLEVELAND, both of Prophetstown, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony at Trinidad, Colorado, recently. Here's to you "Ham," may you and yours live long and prosper.

RUCK, Frank LINDER, Tampico; John PEARSON, Hume. Fourth week - Frank FELSON, Tampico; Herman MYERS, Julius SCHUTT, John W. CLEVELAND, Hume.
February 21, 1903 Mrs. Henry CLEVELAND, a worthy woman, died at her home in Prophetstown Sunday morning at the age of twenty-five years. Her death was due to childbirth. She was esteemed and respected by all who knew her.
October 7, 1904 MR. AND MRS. CLEVELAND ENTERTAIN Mr. and Mrs. Earl CLEVELAND entertained their friends in honor of Miss Kitty MAJOR of Sterling adn Mr. MAJOR of Chicago last Wednesday evening. The evening was spent playing progressive flinch. Ice cream and cake was served. Those present were; Mr. and Mrs. Roy RAWSON, Frank WEST, Geo. MERRILL, A. BAIN, Linas GOODALE, Miss Anna LILL, Rhoda LYONS, Kitty MAJOR, Mr. Donald McLAUGHLIN, E. MAJOR.
November 29, 1907 The ditch north of Tampico and just north of Marshall LEE’s farm occupied by Jay WELCH will be dredged. The dredge will start a half mile west of the LEE farm and go to the slough. The ditch is filled in considerably and farmers along it suffered last year on account of the poor drainage. The commissioners are Henry BROWN, Jay CLEVELAND and Arthur McKENZIE. Denise & Les - Thank you for all your information! All my family ever told me about my grandfather (Carroll Cleveland) was that one day he left home to go to work (at a bar) and was never seen again. I'm just curious to find out what happened to him (where he went, did he ever re-marry etc). There is a gap of time from 1920 to 1986 where I can find no record of him. I was hoping maybe he went back to be close to his grandmother Harriet who raised him in Whiteside County. I'd really love to know why he left, but I don't think I will ever find that out unless I run into someone who knew him. I did find out from the SS Death Index that he died in Pennsylvania in June of 1986 and am currently trying to get a copy of the death certificate or obit. He married (though I can find no record of it) Anna Velma Marvin (of Rock Island, I believe) and had three children (James Fay - my father, John Howard and Anna Marie). Do you know how I can obtain a copy of a marriage certificate when I don't have a date or know for sure which county? I assume it would be between 1912 and March of 1918 and probably took place in Rock Island, IL). Thanks again!!

JKB had contacted me to do some research. I gave her the standard items like census, etc you can find. I led her here so someone could explain about the "Cleaveland Area" and School that has been posted on this website. These people would have relatives of hers too.
