The Tampico Area Historical Society encompasses parts of Whiteside County and Bureau County in Illinois. Focus is on Tampico, Hume Twp., Hahnaman/Deer Grove, & Prophetstown in Whiteside County & Yorktown & Thomas in Bureau County.

They have posted the request on their web site and ask that people post comments to support our request. Please go to the website and let them know how important it is for us to save our museum. A few kind words could help us receive a grant! Hamburger Helper (yes, that’s right, Hamburger Helper) is offering grants. They have posted our request for help for a new roof and only ask that folks comment on our request. Here is their address. Please add your comments so we can get a new roof on our building. Not only is the roof needed for both the library and historical museum (the buildings are connected) because of leaks, but yesterday there was a DEAD BAT in there which came through the section that is leaking (removed ceiling tiles). If you looked through to the other places requesting a grant, they have very few people supporting them. If the number of messages left is equivelent to "brownie points" and influences the decision, we should be in great shape. Thank you all so very, very much.
