I had an opportunity to visit the Historical Museum last week, and Denise showed me the vast number of issues of the Tampico Tornado owned by the museum/historical society. I was thrilled to find obituaries of my grandmother, Minerva Lyon Hartnell, and her parents, Marcus Ruel Lyon and Minerva Miller Lyon. Each provided me with formerly unknown tidbits, including a photo that accompanied the article about Minerva Miller Lyon - the first I've seen.
Thank you, Denise, for giving up several hours of your morning to let me browse. I also enjoyed finding funeral records for my grandmother, Minerva Hartnell, and my great-grandfather, Marcus.
Once all those school records are sorted out, if any are old enough for my Lyon family, I'll have to schedule another trip from Michigan. It was unfortunate that I didn't have longer to browse the materials on the main floor. If you haven't visited, take some time from your schedule and visit the Museum. Denise has done a wonderful job.

Sandi, It was great to finally get to meet you! And it was certainly my pleasure helping you access any information you needed. I love the look on people's faces when the get a new "find." It is just priceless.
There is NEVER enough time to get all we want done - especially in genealogy. We'll be here for you whenever you can find time to come on down!
For the first time in 7 years, I have some physical help at the TAHS museum and we are getting things in order. We should be able to get to the "School Room" in the very near future. Another goal is to index the Tampico Tornados the same way the Gazette is on line.
Thank you for the kind words.

Hello, my name is Shari. My husband and I are planning a trip to Tampico to see Ronald Reagan's birthplace. Could someone please give me info on this? Such as the hours of operation, days open, cost to visit. All other info would be appreciated. Thanks!
