Unfortunately, he died in 1968 so I won't have his obit in the Tornado newspaper. It stopped publishing in 1966. However, the Sterling Gazette has the following articles: Kepner, J. J. birthday - 95 3 May 1967;10;4* Kepner, J. J. birthday - 95 12 May 1967;14;2 Kepner, J. J. funeral rites 25 Sept 1968;6;5 Kepner, J. J. and Minnie Schmidt anniversary - 60 18 Dec 1958;14;2-4* Kepner, J. J. Mrs. funeral rites 3 May 1960;2;4
These are all archived at the Sterling Public library. Are you in the area? If you are not in the area, but are interested, you can either contact Marilyn Anderson at the library for a copy or let me know and I will try to get over there to transcribe the obit and post it to site.
You can get all of this information for the on line Gazette index, Sterling library contact info, etc. on our website. Go to TABLE OF CONTENTS > WHITESIDE COUNTY > WHITESIDE COUNTY CONTACTS > This page lists the web address of the library, the email & phone contacts and a direct link to the online index of the Gazette newspaper. That paper started publishing in 1854. They do not have it indexed back that far yet, but I think they are back to early 1900's. It's an excellent resource and I hope someday to the our Tornado newspaper indexed the same.
Let me know if you need my help.

I went and copied the articles on his death and his wife, and his son Dyson as well. I have not had a chance to transcribe them to site yet.
However, his parents are listed as Robert and Rebecca Kepner.
