I was hoping someone would have information on the Red Dot Cabins in Yorktown. I was told that they were on Main Street. They were owned and/or operated by the Quinns. I am not sure of the dates they were in operation.

Thanks,
Patty

THE RED DOT CABINS WERE ON THE NORTH SIDE OF RT. 92 JUST SOUTH OF RANDY CADY'S HOUSE. MAY SMITH AND VERLA AND DUGAN ORLOWSKI PURCHASED THEM FROM THE QUINNS AND RAM THEM FOR A WHILE. I DO NOT REMEMBER ANY DATES THO, BUT I WOULD SAY THEY SHUT DOWN IN THE EARLY FIFTYS. THEY WERE VERY SMALL CABINS.

I think there were four of the little cabins that they rented out to overnight guests. As a kid, I always wanted to stay overnight in one of them - but of course never got to. They were white with a big red dot painted on them - over the door, I think. Lowell Eggert bought one of them and it stood in his yard on his farm north and west of Tampico. It was a part of his elaborate Christmas display that he and his wife, Mable, did for many years. I don't know where the other cabins went to.
