I was wondering if anyone has info on the family of Herman and Anna B (Rasmussen) Kerber? I have some info but have nothing on their youngest daughter Bernadine born abt 1925. Who did she marry and is she living or dead? Found her with family in 1930 census but nothing else about her. Thanks for any help

Sue, Where did the parents die? I am not having any luck. I asked a friend in Lee Co. to check on the name, but not finding these folks. Sorry I did find the births for Darlene & Bernadine: Bernadine, b. July 12, 1926, cert# 520275 Darlene Mae, b. Jan. 11, 1912 cert# 8857. News article indexed in Dixon Telegraph, Jan. 30, 1984, pg 7, column 1. Coding indicates it is the 50th anniversary, Louie Dalziel. Two articles on Arthur J Kerber. 80th BD, March 1, 1988, pg. 16, column 5. m/f roll 344. These are on microfilm at the Lee County Genealogy Society http://leecoilgen.org (requires a fee). ---------- Denise Family History Coordinator Tampico Area Historical Society

Hi Susie, I found the following article on Herman & Anna's 50th Anniversary in the Sterling Gazette. It reads: Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kerber of 1106 W. Central Ave. Princeton, who are former Walnut residents will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Feb. 7 at their home.
Friends are invited to call between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. and in the evening.
Miss Anna Rasmussen was married to Herman Kerber on Feb. 21, 1904. They have four children: Mrs. Louis Dalziel and Arthur Kerber of Walnut, Mrs. Darl Lafferty of Princeton and Harvey Kerber of Waterloo, Ia. (Sterling Gazette, Feb. 1, 1954, page 9, col. 4-5) Click on photo to enlarge. Also found the following on their online index: Dalziel, Darlene Kerber and Louie anniversary - 50 30 Jan 1984;A8;7* Dalziel, Louie and Darlene Kerber anniversary - 50 30 Jan 1984;A8;7* Dalziel, Darlene Mae Kerber (Louis M.) obituary 8 Mar 1993;A2;5
Looks like you need to check with Bureau County Genealogical Society. See our TABLE of CONTENTS for link or go to http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/Bureau_County_Contacts.html
SSDI Name Birth Death Last Residence Last Benefit SSN DARL P LAFFERTY 14 Mar 1909 05 Jun 1993 61356 (Princeton, Bureau, IL) (none specified) 352-09-6025 Illin
No listing for Bernadine on the SSI. Perhaps she is still living.
Bernadine H Lafferty 1807 Fletcher St Princeton, IL 61356-2611 (815) 875-1522 Age: 65+ Household: Randy
I went to the Lee County Genealogical Society's Open House this week end. Really nice place! I looked up KERBER, but all they showed was a Harry Kerber (I think - I am going on memory at the moment. It was not Herman or any of the Kerber's you listed).

Sue, In addition to the above find on Bernadine, I just ran across (TOTALLY BY ACCIDENT!) the obit of what appears to be Herman's father! Here 'tis: As printed in the Tampico Tornado newspaper, March 31, 1966, 1;2 "Let's Go Back - To the Tampico Tornado dated March 27, 1941. There we find: . . .John J. Kerber passed away at the age of 93. He was born in Germany in 1858. In 1883 he and his wife, Fredericka Frank Kerber and daughter Bertha came to America and farmed near Walnut and Sheffield. Three daughters and three sons by this marriage, Mrs. Charles Lang, Mrs. Minnie Teske, Mrs. Mary Gerlach, Herman, John and Ben survive him as do two children by his second marriage, William Strike and Fred Frank. His second wife, Mrs. Minnie Strike, preceded him in death. (END OF ARTICLE) ---------- Denise Family History Coordinator Tampico Area Historical Society
