No need to panic since the site is paid through Oct. 15, 2009. However, Commissioner of finances, Kris Hill, is questioning the purpose and validity of this website. President, Joan Johnson and I will be attending their village meeting on Monday, Feb.2, at 7 p.m.

The site is paid for from the Villages "Tourism" budget. I find that extremely appropriate!

If you would like to let the village know how much you are in support of this site, please call any of the following #s, preferably before tonight's meeting. Please THANK them for supporting it/paying for it since Oct. 04. They need to know we appreciate it.

Commissioner Kris Hill 815-438-2149
Mayor Larry Specht: 815-438-2680
or leave msg for all of them at Village Hall: 815-438-2505. They close at 3p.m.

Thank You,
Denise

Ta-dah! Ok, it is 7:15 and I am back from the village meeting already. Suffice to say, there is not a problem (at this time). Commissioner Hill thanked me for all the work I do and said the site was just fine. No mention of not paying for it. So, perhaps we should not call her or the village any more. I don't want to make her upset and change her mind. I didn't feel any warm fuzzies when I left, but the site is not in jeopardy at this time and that's all I care about. Yahhhh! Thanks for all that wrote or called in their support!!!!!

(big chuckle here, Kathy) Yep! It was "tense" and I suppose me walking in with a stack of papers including a 5-page report (which was also distributed to each commissioner & the Mayor) detailing everything mentioned as a "concern" in the minutes of the Jan. 19 village meeting as well as Commissioner Hill's concerns stated to our president, Joan Johnson, did not help matters. Apparently, my very detailed explanations created some "tension" and the commissioner started her conversation in a very "defensive" undertone, stating that what she said was NOT an attack on the site, she was merely "wondering" about some things.

As far as I am concerned, if it is on the village agenda for discussion and written in the minutes, then it is not "just wondering." I did ask that in the future, if they had concerns or questions to please consider contacting me first before making it a board issue. I can't say I felt any "warm fuzzies" when I left, but we are safe through Oct. I will attend the Sept. & Oct. meetings when the bill comes up for renewal and approval again.

Let's remember to thank the village for all of their support for the TAHS. Not only have they paid for the website for 4 yrs., but they have donated a tidy sum to our roof fund and other things throughout the years. We are very grateful for all they have done and hopefully, will continue to do. These are tough times for all organizations. I truly am very appreciative for what they have done. But know, I will always FIGHT for what we have, IF necessary. I hope I opened a few eyes and enlighted all at the village with my detailed letter.

Again, Thanks to everyone who called or emailed their support in this issue. (I heard the commissioner whisper to another member that she had received a phone call that day, but then I didn't hear the rest. I suspect it was from one of our supporters!)
