I am researching Albert W. Ellsworth who was born in Iowa on Dec. 7 1857 and died in Morrison on Feb. 20 1935. He was a brother of my g-grandmother Lucy Ellsworth who was born in Illinois in 1853. They were children of Samuel Ellsworth & Martha Putnam.
From what I understand the Tampico Tornado had his obituary in the Feb. 28 1935 edition and I would very much like to obtain a copy of the obit. I would be happy to reimburse any expenses incurred.
Albert Ellsworth was buried in Leon Cemetery and I would very much like to contact someone there about his burial location.
Thank you

I am researching my ggg-grandfather Oliver Cromwell Colton who was born in NH in 1791 and died in the Tampico area probably prior to October 1874 as that is the date of his probate papers.
The 1870 census lists him as follows: July 19 1870 Page 3 Line 23 Tampico Twp Whiteside County Oliver "Coulton" (spelling incorrect) age 79, male, white, retired farmer birth: New Hampshire boarder with James & Esther Hughs
Seaches have previously been made for his death record or place of burial in Whiteside County without result.
If someone has any information about Oliver Cromwell Coltons place of burial or any other information I would greatly appreciate knowing about it.
Thanks very much

Dear Mr. Rogers, I finally located the obit for Albert Ellsworth. The Historical Society no longer has a copy machine, but I transcribed it for you (in ARTICLES/HISTORY section of this site). If you want, I can get permission from the managers of the H/S to bring the book home (huge!) and copy it on my copier.
I still have not found anything on Oliver Coulton/Colton, but will keep checking. ---------- Denise

Would like Alton E. Rogers to contact me at lan.nan1@juno.com. I am on a wild goose chase looking for a Martha Ellsworth who married a Coe. My grandfather told me years ago that his grandparents, Joseph and Martha Ellsworth Coe were from the Geneseo area. Their son, John married and died in Polk County, Iowa. John was born 1857 - 1860 and died 1913.
Am wondering if you have information on Martha Ellsworth? Thanks for any information you can share with me.

Hi Nancy, Have you contacted anyone in Henry County about your Ellsworth's? Geneseo is in Henry County. There are several Ellsworth's buried in the Leon Cemetery which is in Whiteside County, but very close to the Henry County line. It is also about 20 miles from Geneseo. My husband's ancestors included some Ellsworth's, but will have to look to see about the names you mentioned as none of them seem to be familiar. I believe that I sent photos of the stones of the Ellsworth's that are buried in Leon to Alton Rogers a year of so ago. The ones listed in my book are: Albert, Amos, John, Madge, Margaret and William. If you need photos of any of these that are buried in Leon, I would be glad to send them to you. Janet

Janet, I have only looked around the internet for my Coe and Ellsworth. I will go back to Henry Co. and look some more. I'm glad to know that the Leon cemetery is located close to the Henry Co. line. I won't need any photos yet, until I can make a connection. Thank you for the gracious offer. Nancy
