I have gathered bits and pices on the Max Brown family but am trying to locate a picture of this family as well as info on their children.Max Brown married Minnie "Blanche" Kemp and had the following children-Florence,Don E.,Archie W. who married his first cousin Mary Lee Madge Kemp.Is there a place where I could check into to see if pictures could be located?Any help is appreciated.I see to have hit a brick wall with this family.Thank you.Julie

Hi Julie,

I don't have leads regarding photos; however, I am interested in who Blanche's parents were. I know that Blanche's sister, Gracia (mother of Mary Ley? Lee? "Madge" KEMP) married Herbert CARTER, bit I don't know where; do you? Also, I know that Blanche's sister married Clyde NYE but I don't know her name; do you? Lastly, did Blanche's other sister, Laura, get married? If so, to whom?

Thanks,
Les

Hi Les,
Thanx on the info on Gracia,I knew she married a Carter but did not have a first name. She married 3 times .I only have last names of her spouses, her second spouse was Unk.Goldhammer and then Unk. Wells.Laura is actually LURA Louise and she married and Unk. Gruber and then Albert J. Baker.Blanches sister Madge (not to be confused with Mary Lea) married Clark Revello Nye(he is my gr.gr.grandfather).
Blanches parents were Edward D. Kemp Jr. and Clara Anna Humphreys.Edwards father was Edward D. Kemp Sr. who came to Bureau county from PA.Clara was the daughter of Edwin Humphrey and Phoebe(no last name).Edward Jr. lived for awhile in Sheffield and then he and his family moved to Goodland Kansas where he died. His wife and 7 children moved back to Sheffield. His body was shipped to Sheffield and is buried in the cemetery.Blanche passed away at the Rock Island Mental Hospital where she was a patient for many many years.I have no leads on if her husband ever remarried or whatever happened to the children.I appreciate the help.It was awesome to have a first name on Mr. Carter.Sorry I cannot tell you where she married.I know that in the 1930 census she was living in Florida, divorced with 2 daughters.I believe she was later found in Chicago teaching.I dont really have much more on her.Her birth name is Grace but took on GRACIA as it was more sophisticated. She was quite a character from what little I have been able to gather.A relative knew all her husbands last names but no one knew their first names. Thanks again.Hope this info helps you out.Julie

Hi all, I got your emai Denise. The Brown genealogy report is posted at: http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/f/Brown_Dow_Descend_update.pdf
This is information from a genealgoy chart compiled by Mrs. Archie W. Brown (Mary Ley Carter) and was kept by my husband's grandmother. There may be some updated information that I received from a fellow researcher, but I think I already updated the posted report. Blanche Kemp's parents were Edward D. Kemp, b. 03 June 1843, d. 24 Feb 1889 and Clara Anna Humphrey, b. 21 June 1861, d. 05 Oct 1935. Written above Clara's name it says: See Humphrey Family in America, 1880 (I assume this is a book). Her parents were Herbert Thiren Carter, b. 17 Jan 1889 Allegany NC, d. 06 Oct 1942 in Chicago IL and Gracia Kemp, b. 05 Mar 1881 in Iowa, d. 04 Aug 1971 in Phoenix, AZ - they were married 27 Aug 1912, but I don't know where. Herbert was WWI private forst class, co. 47, 3rd Bn. 5th Reg and in the US Marine Corps 1918-19. Gracia was a school teacher for 35 yrs. in Chicago.
I haven't posted the children of these ancestors as they may still be living.
Hope this helps,Brown/Dow Desc. Update
Lynn

Hey Lynn - so glad my contact info was good! Our Wisp provider for the tahs email has "lost" my contact list 3 times. I learned to back it up, but not until I lost so many addresses. Anyway, thanks for responding and filling in some blanks.
From our "TABLE OF CONTENTS", click on "Family Histories" (in first section/top of page).
On the FAMILY HISTORY page, scroll way down to DESCENDANTS OF SIMEON BROWN. It is in pdf format.
