I am looking for information of the J.C. (or J.L.) Black family. Specifically I am looking for Lottie Black, her brother Felix Black and her Mother and Father Joel Black and her Mother (I have misplaced her name). They were in Tampico, Whiteside Co. in the 1860's and then moved west I believe to KS then to CA, Or and the WA. I would love whatever information is available and am more than willing to searches for anyone in WA. Thanks so much.

Hi Jill, This was posted back in Aug., '08 on this msg. board: BLACK FAMILY Did anything come from that? Were they your people in the 1880 census?
I didn't find them on our 1860/70 census records. Our newspaper, The Tampico Tornado, did not start publishing until 1876. I have not found anything on the Gazette on-line Index which is for the Sterling Gazette, Sterling,IL.GAZETTE INDEX which started publishing in 1854.
Can you update me on the above and give me any other details? Occupation, dob? Anything that would help identify him, incase he has been mistranscribed. Have you checked with Marilyn Anderson at the Sterling library? She is the president of the Whiteside County Genealogical Society and heads the Genealogy Dept. at the library.
