My Grandmother, Arlene Hagerman used to speak fondly of the farm.

Any info would be appreciated...or at least a source where I can find some more info.

CON CUNNINGHAM IS DEAD

Prominent Farmer of Hahnaman Towhship Died Last Week At His Home

Cornelius CUNNINGHAM one of the old and highly respected citizens of Hahnaman township died last Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at his home three miles east of Tampico. He had not been well for three months and death came as a result of the infirmities of old age.

The funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Mary's church Requiem high mass was said by Rev. L. X. DuFOUR assisted by Father FLYNN of Ohio and Fother DORN of Morrison. Internment was in St. Mary's cemetery.

Cornelius CUNNINGHAM was born in county Kerry, Ireland and emigrated to this country in 1850. He resided in the east for a year and then moved to Rockford, Illinois, later going to Wisconsin where he lived until 1867 and then came to Hahnaman township where he as since made his home. He was married in Pennsylvania Nov. 14, 1856 to Miss Eliza FOGARTY who was a native of Ireland. Eleven children were born to them, ten of whom with the wife survive. They are: John, Frank, Thomas, Ed, Charles, Maggie and Nellie residing in Hahnaman, Lizzie of Chicago, Mrs. D. DONAHUE of Tampico and Mrs. John MANION of Sterling.

Mr. CUNNINGHAM was one of the vicinity and was well known throughout the county. He was the owner of several fine farms which he had accumulated by honest toil since coming to this country from Ireland, his birth place. He was well liked and his relatives have the sympathy of all in their loss.

thank you Denise. I've been to Tampico a number of times but the last time was probably about 15 years ago. Whenever I would visit my grandparents in Sterling, IL we would always make a trip to Tampico. My Grandmother was very proud of being from Tampico.

I also found some info on the St Mary's History page:
http://saintmarytampico.org/history.html

Last time i visited, my grandmother thought for sure Cornelius had donated one of the stained glass windows but as it turns out he donated half the bell and one of the stations of the cross.

Several times during our visits to Tampico my Grandmother was approached by locals who had been her students. She was a school teacher for anumber of years but i don't know where in Tampico the school house was. My mother does have one picture of her in her class room and it looks like a "Little House on the Prairie" type class room? Do you have any idea where it might be?

thank you for your time
